About this Blog

photo of M PlouffHello, and Welcome. Let me take a moment to introduce myself and this blog. First of all – this is my personal website, created and maintained by me, Maurita Plouff. I’m not going to have thousands of recipes here. Any recipe you do find is something I have cooked myself, and enjoyed, and think you might like too. I invite you to try them, and leave constructive feedback in the comments.

About me. I’m an ordinary person, maybe a good cook but not trained in a culinary school. I have worked in the food biz as a personal chef, and my business did pretty well for 7 years, but I’m cooking just for my family and friends now. As of this writing – Spring 2013 – I’m in my fifth year as a CSA member, this year with Hauk Farms. I try to use or preserve all the food I bring home from the farm, each and every week.

Where I get the recipes. Oh, goodness, where not? Sometimes it’s from a book or a newspaper clipping or a website, and I’ll try to give proper attribution where possible. More often it’s something I’ve pulled together from reading several sources, or it’s an old family favorite. Think of these recipes as being from my personal recipe binder – I’m sharing with you what we like to eat. We try to eat Real Food – that is, wholesome natural food, not processed stuff. We believe in a varied, healthy diet, using real butter, real cream, eggs, lots of green vegetables, and protein from meat, fish, beans, and cheese.

  1. Best of luck with the new blog. Always room for one more in the kitchen. Fresh food is a passion of mine. Eat local, eat fresh!
